Lessons from overdoing food programs

So whilst we’ve been in lockdown we have watched lots of food programs. All the food programs. All of Hell’s Kitchen, Masterchef, Snackmasters, Gordon Fred and Gino. You name it, we’ve watched it. The youngest has made several comments about where meat comes from, and how it is prepared. Up to now he hasn’t had any problems eating sausages or chicken nuggets (though if these class as meat is debatable).

Then last night we were watching one that was talking about a restaurant bringing up their own animals. Should have noticed the warning signs. Then they showed some lovely pigs and the chef happily told everyone that soon he comes down with a spray can and sprays the pigs that he wants for his restaurant. Then another man showed his trout farm, caught a fish and then lopped it’s head off.

Son is now a vegetarian.

This isn’t a huge problem, except that his dad and brother are confirmed carnivores and always scoff at suggestions of meat free Mondays. One meal I made that was lovely but meat free was commented on for weeks - how dare I not feed them meat? I could happily be veggie too, but now I’ve got to get my head round 2 menus every day. Boy can’t have cheese for every meal...
